Yell Alternatives for small businesses

by Tim R @ Procredible

Choosing a platform for your business can be a challenging decision. Small businesses will need to consider budget, scope, and capabilities when deciding which platform is right for them.

In this article, we will compare two affordable website packages; Yell and Procredible to help you make the best decision for your business. We will look at their features, pricing plans, and more to determine which one is better suited for a small/start up business. By the end of this article, you should have all the information necessary to make an informed decision on which platform is best for you!

Yell vs Procredible

In order to draw a fair comparison we will be comparing both of their most popular payment plans, looking at the pros and cons of each option.

For Yell, this would be the Advanced plan.

For Procredible, this would be the Professional plan.

Design

Your website acts as the face of your company; it reflects your business’s image and assists in creating a positive and lasting impact.

When choosing a website package, one of the key parts of it is the design and what options you have. There are a few choices you have when looking into this:

  • Design the website yourself
  • Get the website designed

There will be pros and drawbacks to both decisions.

Yell Design

When choosing Yell’s advanced package your website will be designed and built for you. Yell websites are built using Wix, their designers will generally use Wix’ templated designs to create your website from. An issue with this however, is that using templated designs can end up being samey, and with so much competition online having a website that stands out from the crowd is more important than ever.

When it comes to mobile optimisation, Yell designers will ensure that your website is  mobile-friendly. Wix will automatically create a mobile friendly site for you, with this in mind as Yell are using wix as to design websites you will get a fully optimised site.

Procredible Design

Similarly, Procredible websites are also designed by professional website designers, who have experience working on both big and small website projects. With the most popular package, your website will be made by a senior designer, so you can rest assured that your website will look professional. This will include the research done to make it stand out in your target market and you can have peace of mind with the keen eye of an experienced designer to tailor it to your needs.

All procredible websites are designed to be responsive across a range of different screens, this is crucial for your website’s success. The mobile designs will adapt from the content and designs of the desktop version of your website, all of which will be approved with the client throughout the design process.

Getting a website designed for you holds many advantages over a self designed site. A professional designer will be able to create your website quickly and efficiently, and be aware of different design elements that the untrained eye might not pick up on. A well designed website will give you the edge and ensure that you can easily attract customers

SEO Features

When getting a website package, it’s important to ensure that it includes search engine optimisation (SEO) features. SEO is essential for getting traffic to your website and improving its visibility on search engine results pages.

Some features you should look for include:

  • SSL Certificates
  • Analytics
  • Meta details and title tags
  • Keyword optimisation

Yell SEO

Site automations

With Yell’s advanced package you will gain 2 website automations, this is beneficial as automation will ensure your website runs faster, improving the overall user experience.

SSL Secure

All Yell websites are SSL certified. An SSL certificate will show potential customers that your website is secure, verified and safe from hackers.

Professional copy written pages

As well as being designed for you, with Yell’s advanced package, they will write the content for 10 pages, meaning you won’t have to worry about writing the content for your pages.

Procredible SEO

Procredible differs as some areas of SEO will be pre-filled by professionals. The website owners will have complete access to the SEO features, able to edit where they see fit.

SEO Package

Procredible offers an SEO package with their most popular package. Procredible websites will have any SEO features like meta details and title tags filled in by a professional, which is then open for clients to edit should they choose.

Analytics

Procredible sites also come with website analytics and depending on the package (for the most popular package, bi-annually) a growth call with a marketing expert to ensure your website is being pushed to its full potential.

SSL Secure

Procredible websites are automatically SSL secure once they are published. This comes at no extra cost and is included in all packages.

Hosting

Both Yell and Procredible offer hosting as part of their package.

Yell Hosting

For the Yell advanced package, your website will be hosted by Yell, this will come with 20GB of storage, be SSL secure and come with 5 hours of video hours available to have on your website.

This means there will be no additional costs for hosting as these will be included within the package.

Procredible Hosting

On the Procredible website package, the website hosting is part of the price, however there is a limit on the storage space available, for example the most popular package comes with 20GB or storage.

Domain Names

When it comes to the domain names Procredible and Yell are quite similar. Procredible lets their clients use their own custom domain. The Yell advanced package comes with a custom domain name.

Yell Domain

With Yell, on an advanced plan, their clients are given a custom domain name. Yell offers a guide on what to look for when registering for a custom domain name. Yell’s advanced package means clients won’t have to fork out extra money on a domain name therefore saving their clients money in the long run.

Procredible Domain

Having a unique domain name is crucial to any website, and many offer custom domain names at an additional cost. Procredible clients are given the option to use their own custom domain names, or alternatively are given a procredible domain name, however this will include the procredible name.

Ecommerce

Yell Ecommerce

By choosing Yell’s advanced package for website creation, you can seize the chance to incorporate ecommerce features on your website. This gives clients the opportunity to sell their products online. This platform offers many advantages to clients, such as letting them have unlimited products, secure online payments, and the ability to set up recurring payments and subscriptions. This means customers have access to include a wider range of content on their websites.

Procredible Ecommerce

While ecommerce is not included in Procredibles most popular package there is the option to add this as an add on, but this is at the expense of additional costs, not including the pricing for the most popular package.

Price

When comparing the website plans, one of the main areas people will look at is price. One study stated that ‘everything comes second to pricing’, no matter how much we like something, be it a product or service, our decision on whether to take action, the price, will likely play a large role in the final decision.

Yell Pricing

When it comes to pricing, Yells Advanced plan first costs come with the Design and build of the website, this costs £699, with an additional monthly fee of £54 for the management of your website.

While a lot of customers may find the set up fee of £699 to be pricey, this will cover the work and cost of your website being designed, built and adjusted to fit your business’s brand and styling. Despite this, many may prefer to simply use Wix to design their own website at a much cheaper £11, especially when you consider that Yell designs are done based on Wix templates.

Procredible Pricing

On the other hand, Procredibles most popular package has both a monthly and an annual plan. If clients pay monthly they are asked to pay a one time setup fee of £149 and then a rolling £59 per month. Alternatively they can pay annually and instead pay a one time fee of £588 (equating to £49 per month) with £0 set up fees.

Both Procredible and Yells packages have a range of different features available. Yell’s advanced package is a nice middle ground between their standard and ultimate package, including an ecommerce feature that creates opportunity for businesses wanting to start out.

For those who are looking to keep costs as low as possible, Procredible may be the more popular option, however, if you are looking to have an ecommerce business then Yell might be the better solution for your business.
